Brief outline of the region.

At the beginning of the 19th century, between 1912 and 1915, chiricano settlers (from Panama), who were later joined by a few Costa Ricans, formed the homestead of El Pozo, (today Puerto Cortés), where they dedicated themselves to rice cultivation and cattle ranching.

Visitors to Puerto Cortés will be able to visit a community that preserves the history of the past in its buildings. These buildings are located in the old Center of Puerto Cortés.

Puerto Cortés is one of the best places to visit in the southern area of Costa Rica, within the attractions of this district are: the longest water slide in America, the longest superman in America, canopy, visits to the mangrove Térraba River, butterflies, and much more.
